Large scale python satellite image processing

November 12, 2021 from 11:45 am to 12:15 pm

Speaker: Ivor Bosloper

Over the last 10 years, the amount of satellite data being gathered has increased significantly and the accessibility has drastically improved. Python is great language to process this data, thanks to the great geospatial information systems (GIS) tools and artificial intelligence (AI) libraries. We have created several generations of python systems processing Sentinel satellite data. In this talk, I’ll explain how improved data accessibility has changed the architecture and design trade-offs for satellite data processing. I’ll take you through example python code to show how GDAL / numpy / scipy can be used and what pitfalls to avoid.
